EFFICIENCY AND CONTROL

An essential system for safety and health

Reagents are also used in wastewater and drinking water purification processes, whether of civil or industrial origin, with the aim of removing pollutants present by altering Ph levels and ensuring healthier water.

Water treatment plants are built with powder storage (lime or activated carbon) in silos or, if for low capacities, in big bag emptying systems. The product is then extracted by means of an extractor screw, which extracts the product to load a weighted dissolver.

Water will be added into this until the expected water-to-powder ratio is reached, and then an agitator will keep the suspension moving to prevent it from settling.

TYPES OF SYSTEM

Two different suspension preparations

• Preparation of lime water suspension

Lime water is an aqueous suspension obtained by mixing water and lime in a variable ratio, roughly between 5 and 15%, which is pumped into tanks containing wastewater to correct its pH and remove pollutants.

• Preparation of activated carbon suspension

The preparation of the activated carbon suspension (PAC) has the same characteristics as that for producing lime water. This material, which like lime does not dissolve in water, is useful in removing pollutants from water due to its adsorption capacity.
