EFFICIENCY AND CONTROL

Homogenous mixing in respect of all types of material

Food mixing plants are made to mix two or more materials together; depending on the types of materials involved in the process and the type of output desired, the type and characteristics of the mixer to be used are defined.

Horizontal mixers, regardless of whether they are continuous or batch, ploughshare or belt ones, are used in many industries, from food to ready-mixed products, due to their flexibility of use.

The way in which a mixer is loaded can of course vary according to plant requirements: it can be supplied by a screw conveyor, or by a pneumatic conveyor with a cyclone filter directly coupled to the inlet. The accuracy of the quantity of powder contained in the mixer is guaranteed by a weighing system using load cells, which can be easily integrated into the base of the mixer.

Safety and Hygiene

We design and build plants in compliance with ATEX and MOCA regulations, ensuring the highest hygiene and health standards.

TYPES OF SYSTEM

Batch and continuous mixers

Batch mixers

Batch mixers consist of one or more loading inlets and one central outlet. Once the materials are loaded into the mixer, the mixing process starts and lasts as long as necessary for perfect mixing. The design and rotational speed of the mixing tools create a centrifugal vortex motion that allows materials to be thrown three-dimensionally and to mix with each other. This ensures that components with different grain sizes and densities are perfectly mixed within the shortest possible time.

Batch mixers can be:

  • Ploughshare mixers: i.e. with a full mixing rotor and staggered ploughshares placed on it. The ploughshare-shaped mixing tools rotate on the central shaft inside the cylindrical horizontal chamber. The turbulence created prevents the formation of dead zones by constantly involving all particles in the mixing process. Despite their low speeds, these machines ensure high mixing accuracy.
  • Ribbon mixers: these consist of a rotor shaft with opposing spirals housed in a mixing chamber of the mixer. The spiral on the outermost diameter conveys the material from the edges inwards, conversely, the spiral on the smaller diameter conveys the material outwards to the sides, producing a kind of convective mixing. The product is mixed gently in relatively short mixing times.

Continuous mixers

Continuous mixers have similar characteristics to batch mixers, however, by virtue of their design logic, they guarantee a continuous supply of product and constant mixing. The solid product enters the only available inlet at one end of the mixer and undergoes the mixing action along the entire length of the mixing chamber, thus benefiting from the longest possible action time. Inside the mixing chamber, other powders, liquids and whatever else is necessary to ensure optimal mixing, are added.

These mixers are widely used in environment for the treatment and inerting of industrial sludge.

Continuous mixers can be:

  • Ploughshare mixers: The ploughshares mounted on the rotor perform their action along the entire length of the mixer, ensuring optimal mixing across the chamber, and total homogenisation of the product with all the additives added.
  • Paddle mixers: these are mixers equipped with two counter-rotating rotors with intersecting paddles.
The adjustable angle of inclination of the paddles allows for perfect adaptation of the paddles to different material characteristics and mixing process requirements.
