DILUTED PHASE

Pneumatic conveying in diluted phase

Pneumatic conveying in diluted phase is one of the most frequently used systems in the handling of bulk solids. This mode of transport can also be continuous; the product is transported in suspension within the conveying line, highly diluted by high-speed air generated by a blower.

Depending on the type of system and product, the correct dosing method must be identified; drop or cross flow rotary valves, butterfly valves or venturi ejectors can be adopted.

There are two types of diluted phase pneumatic conveying:

Pressurised: an upstream blower blows air at high speed into the pipe, into which a dosing device will drop the powder which will then be conveyed. In the case of several discharge points, diverters along the pipe will distribute the product over several discharge points. This mode is more suitable for free-flowing, non-hazardous products.

Vacuum: the dosing device feeds product into the conveying line, which is drawn in by a vacuum located at the opposite end of the line and connected to the dust collector. Vacuum conveying is widely used in the case of toxic or very compact products, so as to separate the particles within the conveying pipe
